Soprano saxophone
The soprano of the saxophone family, but not the highest member of the clan.
Originally, Adolphe Sax created two groups of saxophones, the most commonly known with a soprano being a transposing instrument in Bb. It is the member of the Bb - Eb family. But Sax also created the C and F family where the soprano saxophone was in C.

Just like the other members of the saxophone community, the fingering will remain the same from one instrument to another.

Unlike most of the other saxophones, the soprano saxophone is a straight instrument.
But there are also curved soprano which exist; they look like miniature also saxophones.

In the 20th century, the first master of the soprano saxophone was the French saxophonist, Marcel Mule.
He frequently performed the soprano in his saxophone quartet.

There have been a number of jazz players who have adopted the soprano saxophone as a choice.
The first recognized master in jazz playing was the New Orleans native Sidney Bechet. He was among the earliest jazz performers to switch from the clarinet to the soprano saxophone, adopting it as his main instrument.
Later masters of the instrument would include John Coltrane, Dave Liebman, Gary Bartz, Mary Jane Bunnett.
Many players like Michael Brecker and Wayne Shorter would follow in the footsteps of John Coltrane and double their tenor saxophone with some soprano saxophone playing.
